Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Martinsburg, WV is seeking a Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA) to deliver compassionate care to residents. You will assist with daily living activities, help with mobility, and support residents during meals and activities while following all policies and safety procedures.

The role requires strong communication, reliability, and a team-oriented approach. Candidates must meet state PCA requirements, maintain certifications, and be able to work flexible shifts

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have completed approved Personal Care Aide program per state regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Organized and able to work with all levels of personnel.
• Team player and able to follow supervisor instructions.
• Polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers.
• Able to walk and stand for extended periods.
• Able to lift 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbs.
• Able to lift and transfer residents with proper body mechanics.
• Uniform required during working hours with name badge.
• CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
• Represent the community positively and professionally.
• Attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents.

• Perform housekeeping duties as directed.
• Respond promptly to resident calls and emergencies.
• Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
• Communicate resident status and appointments in writing and verbally.
• Assist new residents with move-in transition and emotional support.

Job Description

The Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community. Reports incidents involving residents to include care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals (ex: HCD, RN/LPN, or ED) Must maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position. Assists residents with activities of daily living Perform housekeeping duties, such as making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining room, etc. as directed by supervisor Respond promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts Must be able to remain calm and competent during emergencies Assists in planning and conducting activity programs for residents Follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information Assists residents to and from the dining room, and to and from activities Checks on residents, ensures attendance at meals and activities Checks on residents who are ill and reports status or concerns to appropriate individuals Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers Assists new residents with move-in transition: provide emotional support Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be CPR/First Aid certified, or be willing to become certified within 60 days of hire
