Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in State College, PA, is seeking a Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide to provide daily living assistance to residents. You will support activities of daily living, respond to calls, and work as part of a nursing team in a respectful, patient-centered environment.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED and completion of an approved PCA program, plus the ability to lift 50 lbs and work weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have completed approved personal care aide program per state regulations as applicable.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in-writing.
  • Must be organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be a contributing member of nursing team and follow instruction of supervisor.
  • Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics.
  • Must be in designated uniform during working hours, to include name badge.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified, or be willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
  • Must be able to represent the community in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living.
  • Report incidents involving residents to include care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals (ex: HCD, RN/LPN, or ED).
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position.
  • Perform housekeeping duties, such as making beds, cleaning apartments, common areas, dining room, etc.
  • Respond promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts.
  • Remain calm and competent during emergencies.
  • Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
  • Follow confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information.
  • Assist residents to and from the dining room, and to and from activities.
  • Check on residents, ensure attendance at meals and activities.
  • Check on residents who are ill and report status or concerns.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, appointments, admissions, and transfers.
  • Assist new residents with move-in transition: provide emotional support.
  • Other duties as assigned
