Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include being enrolled as a JSU student taking at least three hours per fall or spring semester.
• GPA requirement: 2.5 or higher if not a first-time student.
• Evidence of student enrollment and GPA must be provided.

Responsibilities

• Resident Education/Support: meet residents, foster studying atmosphere, offer time-management and study skill guidance, involve faculty, plan educational programs.
• Student Conduct: respond to student behavior, maintain policies, develop community, promote self-discipline and respect.
• Helping Skills: act as a confidential, non-judgmental peer advisor, refer residents to resources, listen actively, treat residents fairly.
• Safety/Security: learn evacuation procedures, report safety issues, educate on safety guidelines, monitor door access, conduct monthly inspections.
• Policy Education: explain safety policies, enforce regulations, model appropriate behavior, communicate policies to residents.
• Administrative: on-call duties, assist in hall opening/closing, complete reports, attend training, participate in required seminars.
