Resident Assistant Position Summary

Resident Assistants are an essential part of our wellness team, providing basic personal assistance to residents to help maintain their highest level of functional independence and psychosocial wellness under the supervision of an RN or LPN.

Resident Assistant Requirements

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with residents and staff
• Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry up to 40 pounds, and move quickly within the community to provide emergency assistance
• Maintain a safe environment for patients and co-workers, and transport patients and equipment as needed
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum age of 18
• Pass pre-employment background check, drug screen, TB test, and physical

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• Experience working with seniors
• CNA certification
• Previous experience in assisted living or memory care

Resident Assistant Responsibilities

• Providing companionship, building rapport, and establishing trust with residents
• Assisting with activities of daily living, including ambulation, transferring, showering, personal hygiene, incontinence care, feeding, reminders, and supervision
• Organizing and assisting with activities, both group and individual
• Performing daily tasks safely and following safety procedures
• Serving meals and handling post-meal cleanup
• Ensuring resident rooms are clean and tidy, and managing resident laundry as assigned
• Monitoring residents and reporting concerns such as skin issues, behavioral changes, or health changes to the Wellness Director
• Following safety regulations, including fire safety, infection control, and hazardous waste procedures
• Communicating with family members, visitors, and volunteers professionally
• Reporting changes in residents' physical and psychosocial conditions to the Wellness Director
• Reporting complaints, grievances, and abuse incidents
• Responding promptly to emergency calls
• Providing post-mortem care as instructed
• Completing documentation and paperwork accurately
• Participating in wellness meetings and mandatory training
• Adhering to American House’s mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures
• Performing all tasks as directed by the Wellness Director and leadership team
