Responsibilities
- Provide quality care and assistance to residents in accordance with the residence philosophy, policies, and resident rights.
- Assist residents in meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Adhere to each resident's individual service plan, notify the Resident Services Director and Wellness Nurse of any changes in the resident's condition.
- Answer and respond immediately to resident calls.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living.
- Check on residents every two hours, document, and report findings.
- Assist with resident activities, encourage participation.
- Encourage residents to attend meals, escort them, assist with serving and eating, and observe/report changes in appetite or physical abilities.
- Assist with cleaning the dining room after meals.
- Help tidy residents' rooms and assist with personal laundry as needed.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with residents and families.
- Dispose of incontinent products per OSHA regulations and policies.
- Practice proper body mechanics and follow safety guidelines.
- Respond to resident emergencies according to policies.
- Promote dignity, independence, and resident rights.
- Carry out duties assigned by supervisor.
Communications
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
- Communicate resident information appropriately to team members.
- Notify supervisor or nurse of changes in resident condition.
- Respond to on-the-job injuries per policies.
- Notify supervisors of concerns from residents' families.
Qualifications
- Experience in elder care preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
