Job summary

Sanford Health in Minnesota is seeking a part-time care assistant to support residents with daily living activities in a senior care setting. You will assist with self-administration of medications, provide hygiene support, help with bathing, dressing and mobility, and monitor residents’ vital signs.

The role requires following OSHA and CDC guidelines, maintaining clean rooms and linens, and working 3:00pm–11:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, plus every other weekend 4:00pm–9:00pm and alternating

Qualifications

• Must complete and maintain assigned medication administration training program and competencies per state guidelines.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED may be required based on working state.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with self-administration of medications.
• May administer medications with proper training.
• Assists residents in bathing, dressing and maintaining cleanliness of all body areas.
• Helps residents with toileting needs.
• Helps residents with transferring, repositioning and walking.
• Takes vital signs accurately and reports changes in resident health status.
• Follows OSHA and CDC guidelines to minimize infections by aseptic techniques and handling of blood borne pathogens.
• Assists with preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks following orders and regulations.
• Maintains clean linens and personal clothing; aids in laundering.
• Cleans residents' rooms, bathrooms, work areas and other public spaces.

Education

High School Diploma or GED may be required based on working state

Position will work every Monday and Wednesday from 3:00pm-11:30pm and every other weekend 4:00pm-9:00pm. Every other holiday will be worked as well.

Job Description

• Assists residents with self-administration of medications.
• May administer medications with proper training.
• Assists residents in maintaining proper and clean appearance.
• Assists residents with bathing and maintaining cleanliness of all body areas.
• Helps residents with toileting needs.
• Helps residents with dressing and undressing and maintaining proper clothing.
• Assists residents in transferring, repositioning and walking.
• Obtain vital signs accurately and reports changes in resident health status.
• Adheres to OSHA and CDC guidelines to minimize infections by following aseptic cleaning techniques, including those that apply to blood borne pathogens.
• Demonstrates safe and proper techniques for chemical use, and follows SDS guidelines for any exposure.
• Assists with preparing and serving nutritious, appealing meals and snacks to residents following orders, standards and regulations.
• Folds, hangs and distributes clean linens and personal clothing.
• Prepares and launders soiled linen / clothing.
• Cleans residents' rooms and bathrooms, work areas and other public areas.
• Takes part in community involvement in location and works with volunteers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED may be required based on working state.
• If working at a facility in which a lift is utilized to move residents, must meet the minimum state age requirement.
• Must complete and maintain assigned medication administration training program and competencies per state guidelines.
