Resident Assistant Position:
Residents Assistants are an essential part of our wellness team, providing basic personal assistance to residents to help maintain their highest level of functional independence and psychosocial wellness under the supervision of an RN or LPN.
Resident Assistant Requirements:
- Effective communication skills with residents and staff
- Ability to lift, pull, push, carry 40 pounds, and move quickly within the community for emergency assistance
- Maintain a safe environment and transport residents and equipment as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Pass pre-employment screening including background check, drug screen, TB test, and physical
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Experience working with seniors
- CNA certification
- Experience in Assisted Living or Memory Care
Resident Assistant Responsibilities:
- Build rapport and provide companionship to residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including ambulation, transfers, bathing, personal hygiene, incontinence care, feeding, reminders, and supervision
- Organize and conduct activities individually or in groups as requested
- Perform daily tasks safely, adhering to all safety protocols
- Serve meals and handle post-meal cleanup
- Keep resident rooms clean and tidy; handle laundry as assigned
- Observe residents and report concerns such as skin issues, behavioral or speech changes, or appearance concerns to the Wellness Director
- Follow safety regulations including fire safety, infection control, bloodborne pathogens, and hazardous waste procedures
- Communicate courteously with family, visitors, and volunteers
- Report changes in residents’ physical or psychosocial conditions to the Wellness Director
- Report complaints, grievances, and abuse incidents
- Respond immediately to emergency calls
- Provide post-mortem care as instructed
- Complete documentation and paperwork accurately
- Participate in wellness meetings and mandatory training
- Adhere to American House’s mission, policies, and procedures
- Perform tasks as directed by the Wellness Director and leadership team
