Job description

Resident Assistant - Caregivers PRN (Healthcare)

The Resident Assistant / Caregiver will provide quality care and assistance to residents in accordance with the residence philosophy, policies, and resident rights.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Assist residents in meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  2. Adhere to each resident's individual service plan and notify the Resident Services Director and Wellness Nurse of any changes in the resident's condition.
  3. Respond immediately to resident calls and assist with activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living.
  4. Check on residents every two hours, document, and report findings.
  5. Encourage participation in activities and assist with meals, including serving and observing appetite and physical abilities.
  6. Assist with cleaning the dining area and residents' rooms, and help with personal laundry as needed.
  7. Establish and maintain good relationships with residents and their families.
  8. Dispose of incontinent products according to OSHA regulations and residence policy.
  9. Practice proper body mechanics and follow safety guidelines during lifts and transfers.
  10. Respond appropriately to resident emergencies and promote dignity, independence, and resident rights.

Communication and Teamwork:

  1. Attend all staff meetings and required training sessions.
  2. Communicate relevant resident information to team members according to policies.
  3. Notify supervisors or the wellness nurse of any changes in residents' conditions or concerns from family members.
