Resident Assistant/Caregiver - 3rd Shift (8-Hr) (Healthcare)

Resident Assistant / Caregiver

The Resident Assistant / Caregiver will provide quality care and assistance to residents in accordance with the residence philosophy and policies, and resident rights.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Assist residents in meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  2. Adhere to each resident's individual service plan, and notify the Resident Services Director and Wellness Nurse of any changes in the residents' condition.
  3. Answer and respond immediately to resident calls.
  4. Assist residents with activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living.
  5. Check on residents every two hours, document, and report findings.
  6. Assist with resident activities, encourage participation, and support attendance at meals.
  7. Escort residents to and from the dining room, assist with serving and eating meals, and observe/report changes in appetite and physical abilities.
  8. Assist with cleaning the dining area and residents' rooms/apartments.
  9. Help residents with personal laundry as needed.
  10. Establish and maintain good relationships with residents and their families.
  11. Dispose of incontinent products according to OSHA regulations and residence policy.
  12. Practice proper body mechanics and follow safety guidelines.
  13. Respond to emergencies following residence policies and procedures.
  14. Offer choices, maintain dignity, and promote individuality for all residents.
  15. Protect and uphold resident rights and independence.
  16. Carry out all duties assigned by your supervisor.
Communications

The Resident Assistant / Caregiver will attend all staff meetings and required training sessions.

Effectively communicate pertinent resident information to team members according to policies.

Notify your supervisor or the wellness nurse of any changes in residents' conditions.

Respond to on-the-job injuries as per policies.

Inform your supervisor of concerns or questions from residents' families.
