Resident Assistant - Caregiver 10p-6a (Healthcare)

Resident Assistant / Caregiver

The Resident Assistant / Caregiver will provide quality care and assistance to residents in accordance with the residence philosophy, policies, and resident rights.

  1. Assist residents in meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  2. Adhere to each resident's individual service plan and notify the Resident Services Director and Wellness Nurse of any changes in the resident's condition.
  3. Answer and respond immediately to resident calls.
  4. Assist residents with activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living.
  5. Check on residents every two hours, document, and report findings.
  6. Assist with resident activities, encourage participation, and support attendance at meals, including escorting and assisting with serving and eating, while observing and reporting any changes in appetite or physical abilities.
  7. Assist with cleaning the dining room after meals and tidying residents' rooms or apartments.
  8. Help residents with personal laundry as needed.
  9. Establish and maintain good relationships with residents and their families.
  10. Dispose of incontinent products according to OSHA regulations and residence policy.
  11. Practice proper body mechanics and follow safety guidelines during lifting and other tasks.
  12. Respond to resident emergencies following residence policies and procedures.
  13. Offer choices, maintain dignity, and promote individuality for all residents.
  14. Protect and uphold resident rights and encourage independence.
  15. Carry out all duties assigned by your supervisor.
Communications

The Resident Assistant / Caregiver will attend all regular staff meetings and required training sessions.

Effectively communicate pertinent information about residents to team members according to policies.

Notify your supervisor or the wellness nurse of any changes in a resident's condition.

Respond to on-the-job injuries per community policies.

Report concerns or questions from residents' families to your supervisor.
