Job summary

• Provide quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents
• Report resident incidents, care concerns, and issues to appropriate individuals
• Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures related to the position
• Perform housekeeping duties in resident apartments and common areas
• Respond to resident calls for assistance and emergency alerts
• Assist in planning and conducting resident activity programs
• Follow confidentiality policies regarding resident information
• Escort residents to dining rooms and activities
• Check on residents and ensure attendance at meals and activities
• Monitor ill residents and report status or concerns
• Communicate resident status, community information, appointments, admissions, and transfers verbally and in writing
• Assist new residents with move-in transition and provide emotional support
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Successfully completed approved personal care aide program per state regulations as applicable
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel
• Ability to contribute to the nursing team and follow supervisor instructions
• Polite and considerate behavior toward residents, visitors, and co-workers
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and push or carry 25 lbs
• Ability to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics
• Must wear designated uniform and name badge during working hours
• CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to become certified within 60 days of hire
• Ability to represent the community positively and professionally
• Attendance and completion of required in-services and staff meetings
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
