Job summary

Deer Crest Senior Living in Red Wing, MN, seeks a compassionate Resident Assistant/Caregiver to provide personal care and health-related services under RN guidance. The role supports residents’ physical and emotional wellbeing, with on-the-job training to pass medications and collaboration with DHS RN and interdisciplinary teams.

Evening shifts are scheduled 2pm–10:30pm, two-week cycle totaling 56 hours, with full benefits and a supportive team culture focused on respect and compassion.

Qualifications

• Must be able to use technology like computers, handheld devices, cell phones, and fax machines.
• Requires ability to assist with personal care and daily living activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal cares (bathing, dressing, feeding).
• Support residents with activities of daily living and mobility (transfers using lifts as directed).
• Administer medications or assist under RN supervision (per plan).
• Record vital signs and communicate changes to nursing staff.
• Provide meal support and assist with dining services.
• Support social and recreational activities and observe changes in resident condition.

56 hours in two weeks. Evening shifts, earn evening shift pay

Week 1: Tues, Wed, Fri, Sat & Sun 2pm-10:30pm

This Resident Assistant /caregiver position is responsible for providing personal care and designated health-related services to enhance and/or maintain the residents' physical and emotional wellbeing. Role will be provided on the job training to be able to pass medications. supported by DHS RN, Nurses, Regional, Triage Nurse, Culinary and other interdisciplinary team memembers.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with personal cares including but not limited to:
• Bathing/showering
• Foot and fingernail care
• Shaving
• Dressing
• Assistance with use of hearing aids and/or glasses
• Hair care
• Feeding
• Toileting
• Escorts
• 1-2 person transfers and use of mechanical lift
• Provides health-related services as directed: Assists with treatments per individualized care plan under the direction of the Registered Nurse. (includes blood glucose monitoring)
• Administers medication or assists with this under the direction of the Registered Nurse (includes insulin injections). Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration under the direction of the Registered Nurse
• Performs specified home services:
• Performs laundry service per schedule.
• Follows cleaning schedule for the shift worked.
• Delivers meal trays.
• Assists with meal service in dining room.
• Assists with preparing for and/or facilitating resident social and recreational activities as assigned and as requested.
• Observes tenants/residents and reports status to appropriate staff.
• Notifies appropriate staff of changes in physical and/or emotional conditions such as change in attitude or mood, loss of appetite, change in weight.
• Serves as a mandated reporter and reports any concerns regarding potential mistreatment
• Offers pertinent observations and input.
• Responds appropriately to resident and building emergencies.

Required Qualifications

• less than 1 year
• Ability to use technology in the form of computers, handheld devices, cell phones, and fax machines
• If under 18 must be on the MN NA registry and site must be able to manage restrictions that they are not able to pass medications or operate a mechanical lift independently.
