Job summary

Ebenezer’s Nine Mile Creek Senior Living Community in Bloomington, MN, is seeking a Resident Assistant to provide personal care and health-related services to residents. The role supports daily activities, meal delivery, and social engagement. Shift options include Day and Early Evening with on‑call casual status.

You’ll work under RN direction to ensure resident wellbeing. Ideal candidates bring compassionate care, comfort with basic technology, and flexibility for weekend/holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year of previous experience.
• Ability to use technology (computers, handheld devices, cell phones, and fax machines).
• If under 18, must be on MN NA registry and cannot pass medications or operate a mechanical lift independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal cares (bathing, dressing, feeding).
• Provide health-related services under RN direction (including glucose monitoring).
• Administer or assist with medications under RN direction (insulin injections).
• Deliver meals and assist with dining service.
• Observe resident status and report changes to staff.

Job Overview

Ebenezer is looking for a Resident Assistant to join our senior assisted living team at Nine Mile in Bloomington, MN! This position is responsible for providing personal care and designated health-related services to enhance and/or maintain the residents' physical and emotional wellbeing.

This caregiver schedule includes:

• On Call/Casual


• Day and Early Evening shifts available


• To maintain Casual status, employees must be willing to be available to work a minimum of three (3) shifts per month (two shifts must be weekend shifts) and one (1) Holiday shift per year. The weekend starts with the beginning of the night shift on Friday and ends with the beginning of the night shift on Sunday

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with personal cares including but not limited to:


• Bathing/showering


• Foot and fingernail care


• Shaving


• Dressing


• Assistance with use of hearing aids and/or glasses


• Hair care


• Feeding


• Toileting


• Escorts


• 1-2 person transfers and use of mechanical lift


• Provides health-related services as directed: Assists with treatments per individualized care plan under the direction of the Registered Nurse. (includes blood glucose monitoring)


• Administers medication or assists with this under the direction of the Registered Nurse (includes insulin injections). Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration under the direction of the Registered Nurse


• Performs specified home services:


• Performs laundry service per schedule.


• Follows cleaning schedule for the shift worked.


• Delivers meal trays.


• Assists with meal service in dining room.


• Assists with preparing for and/or facilitating resident social and recreational activities as assigned and as requested.


• Observes tenants/residents and reports status to appropriate staff.


• Notifies appropriate staff of changes in physical and/or emotional conditions such as change in attitude or mood, loss of appetite, change in weight.


• Serves as a mandated reporter and reports any concerns regarding potential mistreatment


• Offers pertinent observations and input.


• Responds appropriately to resident and building emergencies.

Required Qualifications

• If under 18 must be on the MN NA registry and site must be able to manage restrictions that they are not able to pass medications or operate a mechanical lift independently.
