Qualifications

• Two years experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years in a health care setting.
• State approved Activity Therapy Training Program completed.
• Continuing education and understanding of aging needed.
• Able to work well with residents and families.
• Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, executes and reviews a diversified activity program for residents.
• Supervises and trains Activities Assistants and volunteers.
• Ensures each resident's activity aligns with their Plan of Care by the interdisciplinary team.
• Maintains accurate documentation per Medicare/Medicaid standards.
• Participates in resident care conferences.
• Uses community resources to meet residents' interests and needs.
• Coordinates staff in activity program delivery with clear directions.
• Recruits community volunteers and coordinates their activities.
• Daily rounds on residents' opinions, feelings and comfort with services.
• Plans and attends department and facility-wide in-service education.
• Maintains relationships with local professional groups.
• Performs all tasks in compliance with state/federal licensure and certification rules.
• Respects residents' dignity, privacy and rights.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
