Job summary

Louisa Health & Rehabilitation Center in Louisa, VA is seeking a Recreation Assistant to engage residents in social and recreational activities, promoting well-being and quality of life.

You will support planning and facilitating a variety of activities, maintain records, transport residents as needed, and collaborate with staff to provide holistic care. High school diploma required; interpersonal skills essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Creative and enthusiastic with a genuine interest in working with the elderly.
• Knowledge of recreational therapy or related field is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support and motivate residents to engage in social, physical, and cognitive activities and adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of individual residents.
• Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of social and recreational activities and programs for residents.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of activities and resident participation.
• Transport residents to and from activities as needed and assist with the setup and cleanup of activity spaces.
• Coordinate with other staff members to ensure a holistic approach to resident care.
• Perform other duties as required to provide exceptional care to each resident.
