Job summary

Aperion Care Vincennes is seeking an Activities Assistant to support planning, implementing and evaluating programs for residents in an Indiana facility. You will help develop engaging activities aligned with care plans, observe participation, and report progress to your supervisor.

The role emphasizes warmth, dignity, and collaboration with other departments to maintain a positive, calm environment. Experience in long-term care and English proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department is preferred.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing & evaluating the activity programs & quality assurance for the facility.
• Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and involvement; document progress and residents’ responses.
• Develop and maintain rapport with other departments; create a warm, calm environment and positive emphasis.
• Prepare activity rooms/areas for scheduled programs; advise on equipment and supply needs.
• Clean up activity areas after functions; follow the care plan in providing daily activities for residents.
• Purchase department supplies for residents; maintain confidentiality of resident information and treat residents with dignity.
• Oversee residents in scheduled activities to promote physical, social, and mental well-being.
• Assist in-room residents by visiting, writing letters, running errands, and helping with crafts and projects.
