Petaluma Health Center is recruiting for a Residency Program Clinical Director to join our award winning team!

Summary:

The Residency Program Director will lead the NP/PA Residency Program, leading and supervising
other faculty in precepting and teaching Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Residents and leading theteam responsible for resident selection and evaluation, curricular evaluation and development, andintegration of the program into Petaluma Health Center’s mission and goals. The Program Director ideallywould also serve as Team Director of the residency team, conditional on appropriate experience to assume that position. (Please refer to Associate Clinical Director Primary Care Job Description). As a clinician, they will provide quality primary medical care in a collaborative, compassionate, and caringenvironment. They will work as an integral part of the medical staff by participating in all strategic initiatives ofPetaluma Health Center. Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to after -hours call,weekend clinics, and assignment to outside locations within PHC federal scope.

Grant-Funded/Limited-Duration Assignment:

This position is grant-funded and is intended to support the NP/PA Residency Program during the applicablegrant cycle. Continued employment in this role is contingent upon available funding, continuation of theresidency program, program needs, operational needs, and PHC’s discretion. The position may end, beextended, or be modified based on changes to funding, grant requirements, residency program needs, or PHC’sbusiness needs. This language does not alter the at-will nature of employment.

Areas of Responsibility:

Residency:

  • Develop, implement, coordinate, integrate, and evaluate the work of the residency program to
    assure attainment of program goals
  • Provide direct clinical teaching in both didactic and clinical settings
  • Lead team designing program guidelines, didactics, and residents’ schedules
  • Assist residents in achieving learning objectives in all desired areas of care and with a deep
  • understanding of PHC’s mission and culture
  • Supervise precepting, including providing training, evaluation, and feedback for preceptors
  • Assist in establishing and coordinating clinical rotations, both within PHC and with outside agencies
  • Coordinate regular evaluation of resident progress and performance, including for post -residencyemployment
  • Collaborate with operations and clinic administrators to ensure residents meet goals for number of patient visits completed during the twelve month program
  • Collaborate with operations and team manager to integrate residents into existing services and ensure that residents are part of the PHC clinic culture
  • Maintain program accreditation including any necessary reports or site visits
  • Create annual budget and work with health center staff to integrate budget within primary care
  • Support, apply for, and manage outside funding opportunities, including federal and state grants, and ensure timely completion of grant-related reporting, documentation, deliverables, and compliance requirements.
  • Manage relationship with collaborating academic institutions
  • Support grant-funded residency program operations, including implementation of grant-related
  • program objectives, tracking of required deliverables, coordination of resident oversight during the grant period, and assistance with transition, closeout, or continuation planning if grant funding ends, changes, or is not renewed.
Clinical:
  • Manage a panel of assigned primary care patients as designated for clinical FTE
  • Take appropriate history and physical examination of patients for a scope of patients is defined by level of certification
  • Order pertinent diagnostics and implement appropriate therapy according to scope of practice
    guidelines
  • Obtain supervising physician's consultation when problems presented are outside scope of practiceor when unfamiliar with a particular aspect of the patient's care according to the PA/NPStandardized Procedures
  • Communicate effectively with the patients while involved with their health care, including providingappropriate patient education while answering questions and in history taking
  • Demonstrate competent knowledge in delivering health care to patients through the peer review processes including chart review, by interactions with physician preceptors and by working collaboratively with support staff and all staff of PHC
  • Become an integral part of the clinical staff through participation in Medical Staff meetings, PA/NPmeetings, and other committees of PHC
  • Responsible for maintaining credentials by keeping all required licenses current, including but notlimited to California Medical License, DEA licenses, CME hours, CPR Certifications and any otherrequired licenses. It is the responsibility of the nurse practitioner to give Human Resources currentcredentials before old credentials expire
  • Willingly perform other duties within the scope of practice as assignedSupport and contribute positively to clinic efforts to maintain and improve patient satisfaction in allaspects of health delivery
  • Work at maximum potential to meet productivity requirements in order to improve patient accessand fiscal viability while maintaining quality medical care
  • Meet all time commitments by arriving on time to the clinic and working entire shift or more as
    needed to manage assigned patient panel
  • Responsible for maintaining credentials by keeping all required licenses current, including but notlimited to California Medical License, DEA licenses, CME hours, CPR Certifications and any otherrequired licenses. It is the responsibility of the nurse practitioner/physician assistant to give HumanResources current credentials before old credentials expire
  • Willingly perform other duties within the scope of practice as assigned
Manager Responsibilities:
  • Assist the CMO and Leadership team in strategic planning of the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Residency
  • Utilize operational and clinical audit results to lead team in initiatives of clinical systems improvements, health information technology innovations, and new methods of care delivery
  • Responsible to meet with residency faculty in their performance reviews and the quarterly and yearly incentive reviews
  • Attend clinical director meetings as needed, as well as other management or quality meetings asassigned by Medical Director

Education/Experience:

  • Familiarity with educational evaluation software
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Current California license as an FNP
  • Nurse Practitioners must also have current CA RN License in good standing
  • Federal DEA Registration within 30 days of employment
  • Must maintain CME as required for certification renewals
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification
  • Candidate must be able to successfully meet PHC’s credentialing and privileging requirements
Language Skills:

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and request s frompatients, co-workers, and others as necessary. Bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and verbalpreferred.
