Position Summary Information
SummaryProvide direct management of assigned residence living areaincluding, but not limited to, leadership, mentoring, studentsafety and security, and facilities management by performing thefollowing duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Assist in developing and maintaining a proactive Residence Lifeprogram that reflects the Christian values of the institutionthrough professionalism, creativity, innovation, andefficiency.
- Reside in assigned University-owned housing for properperformance of duties of employment.
- Assist with room assignments, facilitate approved room changes,and coordinate the check-in and check-out processes for adesignated living area.
- Oversee the planning, administration, and evaluation ofprograms within a designate living area.
- Assist in the selection and training of Graduate Assistants andResident Assistants.
- Provide supervision and on-going leadership development forassigned staff of Resident Assistants.
- Attend departmental meetings deemed appropriate bysupervisor.
- Participate in Student Services related training andevents.
- Maintain scheduled office hours, participate in on-callResidence Life duty rotation, and provide coverage for a minimum ofone (1) University holiday/break period, as specified in theHoliday Schedule.
- Maintain fiscal control of appropriate funds, including but notlimited to living area and programming budgets.
- Abide by, understand, uphold, defend, and enforce Universitypolicies and Residence Life policies.
- Address student judicial cases and serve as a member ofJudicial Review Boards as appropriate.
- Respond to and serve as a resource for physical, psychologicalemergencies with professionalism and sound judgment.
- Monitor physical (health and safety) conditions of the livingarea.
- Regular on-site attendance.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position supervises Resident Assistants. In addition, thisposition provides suggestions and recommendations as to the hiringand firing, and as to the advancement and promotion of ResidentAssistants.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described here arerepresentative of those that must be met by an employee tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job. Whileperforming the duties of this job, the employee is regularlyrequired to stand, walk, and sit; and requires sufficient hand,arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard or otheroffice equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers;and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate inperson or over the phone. The employee must occasionally liftand/or move up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be madeto enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essentialfunctions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristicsdescribed here are representative of those an employee encounterswhile performing the essential functions of this job. The noiselevel in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is normallyperformed in a typical interior/office work environment, withminimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
Education and/or ExperienceBachelor’s degree from four-year College or university; and one totwo years related experience and/or training; or equivalentcombination of education and experience. Master’s Degree and/orcollegiate residential experience preferred.
