Job summary

Caturus, a Houston-based energy platform, seeks a Reserves Engineer to support reserves evaluation, corporate planning, and A&D analyses. You will manage ARIES databases, interface with engineering, accounting, IT, GIS, finance, and operations to ensure data integrity.

Based in Houston, you will report to the VP, Corporate Reserves. Responsibilities include building reserves models in ARIES and Excel, leading reporting, and supporting acquisitions and budgeting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years in reservoir engineering, reserves, investment banking, data analysis, or a related oil & gas role.
• Oil and gas industry experience required.
• Strong ARIES database skills and experience with relational databases.
• Proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools (Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer the corporate SQL/Access databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
• Prepare reserves estimates, production forecasts, and economic models using ARIES and Excel.
• Lead reserves reporting & reconciliation and help drive internal budgeting and planning processes.
• Support acquisitions, divestitures, and corporate strategy through reserves and valuation analysis.
• Develop and manage data models and relationships to support cross-functional analysis and reporting.
• Work closely with asset engineers to input, validate, and manage production forecasts, reserves, and economic evaluations.
• Communicate key insights and risks to senior management through clear reporting and presentations, using tools such as SQL, Excel, Spotfire, Power BI, PowerPoint, etc.
• Collaborate with accounting, GIS, IT, finance, geoscience, and operations teams to ensure consistent and integrated data flows.
• Perform quality control checks and troubleshoot data discrepancies across systems. Automate repetitive data tasks and develop scripts or tools to improve data accessibility and integrity.
• Support process improvements and automation across reserves and planning workflows, including data integration and reporting efficiency.
