Job description

Position Title

Reserve Police Officer – Provo City Police Department

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $35–$40 per hour (based on experience).

Primary Duties
  • Enforce state and city laws; patrol assigned areas.
  • Respond to calls, emergencies, and alarms.
  • Deliver emergency messages, mediate civil complaints, and gather intelligence.
  • Serve warrants and subpoenas; educate the public about crime prevention and actively seek and detect criminal activity.
  • Investigate complaints, traffic accidents, and crimes by interviewing complainants, suspects, witnesses, and victims.
  • Subdue, overcome, and control persons using reasonable force.
  • Maintain security and escort prisoners from crime scenes to jail, court, or other assigned areas.
  • Handle inquiries or complaints, render first aid when necessary, assist the public, control crowds, and intervene in crises.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
  • POST Category I certification.
  • Two years of experience as a police officer.
  • Valid, lawful driver’s license.
  • Not on probation with another agency.
  • Currently employed as a full‑time police officer.
Selection Process
