Job summary

The U.S. Army is seeking an Orthopedic Surgeon to provide both surgical and non-surgical care to Soldiers, retirees and their families. You will apply diagnostic skills to determine the best treatment and use advanced equipment to treat musculoskeletal conditions.

This role supports active duty or reserve service, offers continuing education, research opportunities and leadership development, with comprehensive benefits including education loan repayment and generous leave.

Qualifications

• Must have MD or DO from an accredited US medical school.
• Current medical license to practice in the United States, DC or PR.
• Must be eligible for board certification.
• Minimum one year of approved GME internship completed.
• Must be a U.S. citizen to serve Active Duty.
• Permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve.
• Foreign graduates may apply with a permanent ECFMG certificate.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surgical and nonsurgical treatment for musculoskeletal injuries.
• Diagnose disorders and determine the best treatment course.
• Utilize state-of-the-art equipment and pursue ongoing education.
• Engage in research to advance orthopedic medicine.
• Serve in Active Duty or Army Reserve and support the mission.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy
• Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates
• Must have a current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico
• Must be eligible for board certification
• Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
• Must be a U.S. citizen to serve Active Duty
• Must have a permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve
