Job summary

U.S. Army Orthopedic Surgeon role combines surgical and non-surgical care for Soldiers, retirees, and their families, focusing on musculoskeletal health. You will diagnose disorders, determine optimal treatment, and use advanced equipment while engaging in continuous education and research.

Active Duty or Army Reserve paths offer leadership training, humanitarian missions, and substantial benefits. This position requires U.S. citizenship and medical licensure in the United States.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree.
• Must have a current license to practice in the United States, DC or Puerto Rico.
• Must be eligible for board certification.
• Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent ECFMG certificate.

Responsibilities

• Treat Soldiers, retirees, and families with musculoskeletal injuries or conditions.
• Perform surgical and non-surgical care; determine best treatment after evaluation.
• Utilize state-of-the-art equipment and participate in ongoing education and research.
• Provide leadership and training opportunities within Army medical teams.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy
• Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates
• Must have a current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico
• Must be eligible for board certification
• Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
• Must be a U.S. citizen to serve Active Duty
• Must have a permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve
