Scope/Summary:
A Researcher 2 position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Acharya, in the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC) Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO). The laboratory of Dr. Acharya studies how cellular and molecular determinants in the neuro-immune axis influence cancer initiation, progression, and metastasis. She is also researching the role of neuro-immune crosstalk and how this process shapes anti-tumor immune responses. This work will significantly increase our understanding of how tumors develop and grow, help to identify new biomarkers for cancer diagnosis, and define novel targets for therapeutic interventions.
The Researcher 2 will be integrated into a highly collaborative and dynamic immuno-oncology research environment at the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO), with access to state-of-the-art facilities and technologies. The Researcher 2 will execute research projects using techniques such as high-dimensional multiparameter flow cytometry, CRISPR-Cas9, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and bulk RNA sequencing (RNA-seq), multispectral imaging, immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, tissue culture, genotyping, and qPCR. Under the guidance of Dr. Acharya, the Researcher 2 will conduct specialized research aimed at identifying novel therapeutics that can synergize with existing immunotherapy modalities. The Researcher 2 will collaborate with the principal investigator in analyzing and interpreting research data, compiling results, and preparing reports, manuscripts, and grant submissions. The Researcher 2 will also participate in training research staff in both basic and advanced laboratory techniques and perform routine laboratory animal procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree or equivalent experience required; 3 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree, or 1 year of relevant experience required with Master's Degree.

Preferred Qualifications::
A Ph.D. in Biochemistry or other relevant field is required. Extensive experience with mouse models is desirable, including preparation of pre-operative brain tumor cell suspensions, stereotactic orthotopic xenograft implantation of brain tumors in mice, and use of bioluminescent imaging to monitor tumor growth and response to therapy.
Strong publication record is desired. Ability to write up project findings and draft proposals and manuscripts for publication is desired. The university requires completion of a background check and qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

Career Roadmap:

FUNCTION: Research and Scholarship

SUB-FUNCTION: Research
