Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Veterinary Technician to support the Animal Facility at the Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI). The role involves routine animal health evaluations, treatments, and technical support for researchers in a biomedically focused setting.

The position requires an Associate's degree with at least two years of relevant experience and weekend/holiday coverage. Licensure as LVT/CVT or a Bachelor's in Animal Sciences is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree.
  • Minimum two years of relevant experience.
  • Mandatory weekend/holiday coverage.
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred).
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience (preferred).
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine health care procedures and animal health evaluations weekly.
  • Evaluate animals and report abnormalities to Attending Veterinarian and Operations Manager.
  • Provide treatment as directed by veterinarian.
  • Communicate findings with researchers and husbandry supervisor.
  • Document health issues, diagnostics and treatments.
  • Provide veterinary technical support including euthanasia, necropsy and tissue harvest.
  • Assist in training on humane handling of research animals.
  • Administer sentinel monitoring and collect samples for testing.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies, and service records.
  • Maintain USDA records and drug records.
