APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:This position is funded for 1 year(s); continuation past 1 year(s) will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

POSITION SPECIFICS

A Research Technologist position is available in the lab of Dr. Manyu Du in the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Pennsylvania State University. The Du Lab utilizes Single Molecule and Super-resolution microscopy approaches to visualize gene expression and other processes in live cells, and to study protein clustering and the bi molecular condensation in transcription. The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology currently houses state-of-the-art microscopes: including PALM/STORM, SIM, and Lattice light-sheet microscopes. The position is open immediately.

YOUR TASKS:

  • Independent implementation of projects and documentation after intensive training.
  • Carry out biochemical and molecular experiments, maintain mammalian cell culture in lab.
  • General lab support.
  • Provide weekly and regular maintenance of equipment.
  • Provide training to users in the practical operation of equipment.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A background in Biochemistry or equivalent experience desired.
  • Prior experiences with mammalian tissue culture, molecular cloning is desired.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Experience with imaging experiments and microscopy is desired.
  • Fluency in English.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education. Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $34,800.00 - $50,500.00.
