This position is funded for 12 months; continuation past 12 months will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

POSITION SPECIFICS

The Kersch-Becker Lab in the Department of Entomology is hiring a Research Technologist to support ongoing research activities in the lab. Responsibilities include working as part of a collaborative team to ensure the efficient operation of both laboratory and field activities, assisting with the design and execution of research and preparing summaries of research results.

  • Conduct research tasks such as maintain insect colonies and plant material in greenhouses and growth chambers, as well as collect, prepare, and preserve insect and plant samples for analysis. This involves accurately recording, organizing, and managing research data, and requires the ability to identify and resolve routine issues that may arise during experimental procedures.

  • Contribute to the development of research methods including applying protocols in new situations, identifying issues and offering solutions

  • Train others in the safe and proper use of protocols and equipment

  • Maintain inventories of research supplies

  • Supervise the work of part time undergraduate students and temporary workers

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education. Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $34,800.00 - $50,500.00.
