Position Summary |
The Research Technician will support an assortment of clinical, research and implementation activities led by Drs. Laura Milko and Jonathan Berg. This role involves helping with coordination across two key projects at UNC: the Program for Precision Medicine in Health Care (PPMH) and Age-Based Genomic Screening (ABGS). This full-time temporary role is evenly split between PPMH and ABGS efforts and involves administrative, communications, operational, and research support for interdisciplinary teams advancing genomic medicine.
FTE Allocation:
50% Age-Based Genomic Screening (ABGS)
The RA will primarily work with Dr. Laura Milko on the ABGS project, which includes a strong emphasis on community outreach. The RA will serve as a point of contact between the research team and the Community Research Board and other partner organizations. Key responsibilities include:
* Planning and preparing for public genetics education events, including designing flyers, newsletters, and other outreach materials.
* Attending outreach events approximately once a month (occasionally on weekends), as part of the regular 40-hour workweek.
* Managing and updating the ABGS website.
* Handling survey data using tools such as Qualtrics and REDCap.
* Supporting the ABGS pilot launch in summer 2025 by coordinating clinical logistics, including management of genetic samples and assisting participants through the consent process.
* Additional duties include participant recruitment and enrollment, collaboration with clinic staff, survey data collection and entry, incentive tracking, and documentation to ensure smooth study operations.
50% - Program for Precision Medicine in Health Care (PPMH)
In this role, the RA will work with PPMH Program Manager, Liz Hutchins, to support a variety of precision medicine initiatives by:
* Managing internal communications and announcements.
* Coordinating team meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, note-taking, and tracking action items.
* Helping to maintain the program website, program records, repositories, and directories.
* Contributing to Berg Lab management duties including website updates and overseeing lab operations such as inventory and purchasing.
* Assisting with event planning and student programs.
* Additional duties as needed.
