EMD Electronics in Carlsbad, CA is seeking a Research Technician to support small volume manufacturing, scale-up activities from R&D, and transition to high volume production. The role involves chemical purification, sampling, packaging, vessel cleaning, and maintaining a clean lab with proper chemical inventories.

You will work with R&D, Quality Control, and Engineering teams in a mid-shift schedule. The position requires 1+ years handling chemicals, a high school diploma (GED acceptable), and

Qualifications

  • 1+ years’ experience handling chemicals or chemical containers.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associate Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or other science discipline.
  • Knowledge of P&ID’s.
  • Lab experience handling acids and bases.
  • Experience with small-scale purification and packaging of specialty chemicals.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets and technical drawings.
  • Experience using SAP and LIMS systems.

Your Role

The Research technician will be a part of the Small Volume Manufacturing team in Carlsbad supporting small scale manufacturing process and the experimental products. The Small Volume team works closely with the R&D, M4Ward, Quality Control and Engineering teams. The Small Volume teams works to scale up production from R&D and assist in transitioning production to high volume scale up as needed.

Physical Attributes
  • Wearing full face air-purifying respirator and other PPE
  • Lifting to 50 pounds
  • Standing, sitting, or walking for up to 8 hours
  • Raising arms up to and possibly above 90-degree angle
This is a Mid-Shift position: Tuesday-Saturday Hours operations 1pm-9:30pm
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 1+ years’ experience handling chemicals or chemical containers
  • High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or other science discipline
  • Knowledge of P&ID’s
  • Prior chemistry lab experience handling acids and bases
  • Knowledge and experience performing small-scale purification and packaging of specialty chemicals
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets and technical drawings
  • A strong focus on quality and safety
  • Experience using Microsoft suite including (Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint)
  • Experience using SAP and LIMS systems
  • Strong data analysis, attention-to-detail and organizational skills

Pay Range for this position: $23.00-$35.00 per hour.

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
