Job summary

Millipore Corporation is seeking a Quality Control Laboratory Technician to perform routine analytical tests and maintain instruments in our Tamaqua, PA site. This on-site role involves supporting production with quality, environmental, and safety concerns, while adhering to ISO 9001 standards.

The ideal candidate has an Associate Degree in chemistry/biology or related life sciences, with 2+ years of laboratory experience and familiarity with GC, FTIR, ICP/MS, and lab equipment.

  • 2+ years of experience with laboratory operations and handling hazardous chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine analytical tests and instrument preventive maintenance, calibrations, and standardizations per written procedures.
  • Analyze samples and communicate results to operations teams.
  • Operate and maintain analytical equipment (GC, FTIR, ICP/MS, balances, Pipettes, pH meters, moisture analyzers, particle counters).
  • Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality Assurance program at the site.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs and wear PPE as required.

Your Role:

The Quality Control Laboratory Technician will perform routine analytical tests, instruments preventative maintenance, calibrations, and standardizations per written analytical procedures and work instructions; assist in problem solving efforts for safety, health, environmental, and product quality improvements under general guidelines and supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor and Manager.

Daily tasks include the following:

  • Provide routine analytical support to operation/production units for product quality, environmental, and safety concerns.
  • Analyze samples, report and communicate results to the operations teams.
  • Operate and maintain analytical equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks/calibrations.
  • Assemble, install and operate equipment such as GC, FTIR, ICP/MS, analytical balances, Pipettes, pH meter, moisture analyzers and particle counters.
  • Adhere to and support the ISO 9001 Quality Assurance program at the site.

Physical Attributes: Lift, push, and or pull up to 50lbs on occasion. Wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, masks, and or steel-toed safety shoes, as needed.

Location: Onsite in Tamaqua PA (Monday - Friday. Hours/days: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications: Associate Degree in Chemistry, Biology or other life science discipline

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Biology or other life science disciplines
  • 2+ years of experience with laboratory operations
  • 2+ years of experience with handling hazardous chemicals (toxic, reactive, pyrophoric, corrosive, oxidizer, Fluorine and HF)
  • Self-starter and can work independently or with a small group
  • Experience with installing and operating equipment such as GC, FTIR, ICP/MS, analytical balances, Pipettes, pH meters, moisture analyzers and particle counters
  • Experience working in a clean room environment
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and 6S
  • Self-starter with the ability to multitask, work as an individual contributor and as a member of a diverse team, be a skilled problem solver, and have a strong passion for continuous improvement and quality
  • Ability to effectively use hardware and lab analysis software packages to enhance productivity
  • Ability to function independently and efficiently under the guidance of management and have good communication skills
  • Ability to recognize existing problems, foresee potential problems, and implement measures to eliminate or reduce the probability of occurrence and/or minimize their impact

Base Pay Range for this position - $31.00-52.00 per hour

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses.
