Position Highlights: This position will perform activities in research in entomology and agriculture, including planting, maintenance of research plots, harvesting of cotton, insect sampling, counting and identification of cotton pest and beneficial arthropods, care and maintenance of insect colonies used for research, field testing of pesticides and other insecticidal technologies, data entry and proofing.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assistance in field and laboratory testing of pesticides and other insecticidal technologies, including oversight and supervisory responsibilities of the other techs and field/lab workers.
• Plant and insect sampling, counting and identification of cotton pest and beneficial arthropods.
• Perform scientific data collections and routine procedures characterized by moderate use of independent judgment.
• Maintain detailed records of studies conducted, organize data, prepare data for computer input and record computer output.
• Data entry and proofing.
• Planting, harvesting, ginning and maintenance of research plots and insect colonies.
• Organize supplies, materials or equipment and set up equipment for laboratory experiments or demonstrations.
• Clean glassware and other laboratory equipment or materials.
• Keep the laboratory area clean.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required.
