Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is seeking a Laboratory Technician Assistant to support research activities, establish a myeloid malignancies database, perform basic data analysis for research purposes, and assist in writing abstracts and manuscripts. You will also communicate with patients for hereditary hematologic malignancies clinic screening lists.

• Requires Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in field of assignment, or two years of college with emphasis in coursework, or High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• No experience required with Bachelor's Degree or two years of laboratory experience at the level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent, or four years of laboratory experience including two years at the level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with High School Graduation or GED.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine scientific and medical research work in science areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, or related fields.
• Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
• Records research data per prescribed procedures and discusses results with supervisor.
• Assists in data collection for project reports.
• Reads literature and confers with supervisor on new procedures implementation.
• May plan for and supervise lower-grade laboratory personnel engaged in limited phases of research.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

Works under minimal supervision to provide responsible technical assistance in performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of techniques and practices related to particular field of science. Establish a myeloid malignancies database (retrospective and prospectively collect data), basic data analysis for research purposes, write up abstracts/manuscripts, communicate with patients for the hereditary hematologic malignancies clinic screening lists. There are only a handful of hereditary hematologic malignancy clinics in the US.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

• Education Bachelor's Degree With major coursework in field of assignment and no experience or Two (2) years of college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment or High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Experience No experience required with Bachelor's Degree or 2 years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with two (2) years of college or 4 years of laboratory experience including two years at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with High School Graduation or GED equivalent
