Research Technician II/III/IV - Yoon Lab

Position Overview and Responsibilities

The Yoon Lab within the Aging & Metabolism Research Program at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation is seeking a Research Technician at the II, III, or IV level. Dr. Yoon's research focuses on discovering new genetic and neurological diseases and understanding their pathogenic mechanisms. The lab employs an experimental pipeline that combines clinical data, genomics analysis, and studies using patient-derived stem cell models.

Dr. Yoon's work has led to the discovery of 5 novel Mendelian mitochondrial diseases, including the Harel-Yoon syndrome and the Yoon-Bellen neurodevelopmental syndrome (PMID: 27640307; PMID: 32004445; PMID: 33845882; PMID: 28017472; PMID: 34800363). The lab has established numerous disease models in human iPS cells.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or relevant field, with two (2) years of relevant laboratory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, able to meet deadlines, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, protocols, and correspondence.
  • Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including calculations involving rate, ratio, percent, molarity, and unit conversions.
  • Precise and accurate work with samples and chemicals.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Professional interactions with diverse groups of people.
Preferred Qualifications

Applicants with expertise in neuronal cell and iPSC culture are highly encouraged. Additional valued skills include:

  • Human iPSC or ESC biology
  • Neuronal cell culture
  • Cell biology techniques (immunocytochemistry, confocal microscopy, cell cycle analysis)
  • Molecular biology techniques (RNA work, qRT-PCR, Western blot)
Work Hours

Typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, but schedule may vary depending on experiments and projects.
