The Institute for Social Research (ISR) at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor is seeking a research support professional for a term-limited, one-year position with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and experience in data collection, survey methods, or related fields, with work authorized in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a science field related to the duties.
• Education and work experience (1-2 years) in social science, data collection, or a comparable field.
• Demonstrated excellent attention to detail.
• Experience entering data with a high level of accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Highly motivated and organized, with excellent multi-tasking ability and record-keeping skills.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a research team.

Responsibilities

• Data collection activities including interviewing study respondents, administering cognitive and hearing tests, monitoring participants, updating and checking the sample management system, assisting the project manager with study management tasks including interviewer training.
• App development and testing: developing the front and back end of a survey application (in collaboration with programmers in our computing department), assisting in testing the app, and assisting with pilot studies testing the app.
• Data analysis and manuscript preparation: assisting with conducting analysis of large datasets, summarizing findings in tables and figures, and assisting with manuscript preparation.
