Research Technician II - Cancer Immunology

The laboratory of Will Hudson at Baylor College of Medicine has a full-time position available for a Research Technician II. Baylor College of Medicine is a top-ranked medical school located in the Texas Medical Center, the largest biomedical complex in the world. The Hudson laboratory focuses on understanding the immune response to tumors and viruses, with the goal of creating better immunotherapies for cancer and infectious disease. The lab applies cutting-edge technologies and is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of scientists.

The technician will support ongoing research in the lab and assist in designing and executing laboratory experiments, techniques, and protocols. The ideal candidate is motivated, well-organized, and collaborative. Previous laboratory experience is preferred but not required.

Job Duties
  • Manage laboratory stocks.
  • Maintain the laboratory in a clean and organized state.
  • Design, conduct, evaluate, and troubleshoot experiments.
  • Assist in animal experiments, including mouse handling, colony management, and genotyping with PCR.
  • Process tissues and tumors to isolate immune cells for further study.
  • Perform flow cytometry to analyze white blood cell populations.
  • Isolate and purify DNA and RNA.
  • Assist other lab members with their experiments.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for the degree.
  • No prior experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field, preferably in biology or chemistry.
  • Motivated, well-organized, and collaborative.
  • Previous laboratory experience is desirable.
