Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC seeks a laboratory researcher to perform core laboratory experiments and assist in developing new methodologies. You will direct aspects of the biochemical lab environment and support data preparation for dissemination.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and several years of related scientific experience, with emphasis on chemical analyses and safety compliance in a clinical/research setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s preferred in a related scientific field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a related scientific field preferred.
• Biological research experience is advantageous.

Job SummaryPerforms laboratory research with minimal supervision. Assists in the design and development of experiments, including the development of new methodologies. Directs all aspects of the biochemical laboratory environment. Assists in the analyses and preparation of data for publication and presentation, and provides support to primary investigators.
Essential Functions

• Oversees and directs all aspects of chemical analyses required in the department, including basic science and clinical projects.
• Assists other laboratory staff with the completion of analytical procedures.
• Teaches theoretical and practical aspects of chemical analyses to other staff members.
• Oversees the laboratory environment, such, safety procedures, record logs, ordering of supplies.
• Teaches others how to use equipment, and schedules the use of the equipment to complete experiments.
  

Physical RequirementsWill be exposed to chemical solutions. Works in a laboratory environment and interacts with people at many professional/technical levels.
Education, Experience And CertificationsBachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred. 3 years of experience in related scientific field preferred. Biological research experience preferred. Ability to calculate and formulate chemical solutions, experience with pertinent equipment.
