Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support investigative research by performing bench-level experiments, preparing reagents and stocks, maintaining records and reporting results. You will operate basic equipment, analyze data, and assist with protocol development and validation while upholding our commitment to accuracy and safety.

Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field; independent research experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of study.
• Demonstrated basic laboratory skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform experiments at the bench level to support investigative work.
• Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, stocks, cultures or cell lines.
• Perform and modify documented protocols and assays.
• Maintain laboratory records and compile data on experiments and assays.
• Interpret and report on experimental results.
• Perform statistical analysis of test results and prepare written reports on work performed.
• Operate and carry out basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Order and maintain appropriate levels of supplies.
• May supervise work-study students.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsible for performing standard and investigative laboratory work in support of scientific research by performing bench-level experiments, operating analytical instruments, recovering, compiling and verifying the accuracy of research data; performing calculations; preparing charts, graphs and summaries.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Demonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of study
• Demonstrated basic laboratory skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Independent research experience separate from school lab experience

The hourly pay range for this position is from $23.33 to $33.21 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
