Job Description - Research Technician I, Neurology (866061)

Job Summary

Works under general supervision to provide routine technical assistance in performing assignments that require basic knowledge of fundamental techniques and practices related to the field of science.

Position Details

Dr. Habib in the Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is seeking a highly motivated, proactive, and independent research technician. Responsibilities include assisting in laboratory experiments such as Western blots, tissue culture, and mouse work. The required qualification is a bachelor's degree.

Minimum Education

  • Completion of two years of college or specialized training in histology, medical technology, or a relevant field, or
  • High School graduation including courses in basic sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology, etc.

Minimum Experience

  • One year of experience as a Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with two years of college, or
  • Three years of laboratory experience including two years as a Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with High School graduation.

Job Duties

  • Assist in conducting experiments and working on research problems in fields such as physiology, bacteriology, tissue culture, chemistry, by performing basic procedures as prescribed by the supervisor.
  • Assemble and operate laboratory equipment and apparatus.
  • Record data following established methods, discuss results with supervisor, and modify procedures as instructed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
