Job summary

Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is seeking a Research Technician I to assist with lab organization, sample collection from volunteers, and experiments per standard protocols. Training in mouse husbandry may be provided.

Strong data handling and teamwork are valued in our collaborative setting. The role involves human blood processing and preparing samples for spectral flow cytometry, with regular reporting of results and data summaries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field.
  • Attention to detail, organization, and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Experience gathering and presenting data.

Responsibilities

  • Human blood processing and PBMC isolation.
  • Magnetic enrichment of selected human blood cell populations.
  • Collection of human parotid saliva samples.
  • Preparation and labeling of samples for spectral flow cytometry.
  • Reporting results with data summaries and basic statistics.
  • General lab maintenance, ordering, and inventory.

The Farris Lab within the Arthritis & Clinical Immunology Research Program at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is seeking a Research Technician I, responsible for assisting with laboratory organization, parotid saliva collection from research volunteers, and the performance of research experiments and procedures according to standardized protocols. May also be trained in research mouse husbandry. Must have the ability to complete tasks after receiving instructions for each assignment. Collects and presents data to Principal Investigator and laboratory team members. Supports team to achieve goals. Expected to perform the following duties after appropriate training and time in the position:

Responsibilities
  • Human blood processing, isolation of PBMC
  • Magnetic enrichment of selected human blood cell populations
  • Collection of human parotid saliva samples
  • Preparation and labeling of samples for spectral flow cytometry
  • Reporting results, including data summaries and basic statistical analyses
  • Contribution to general laboratory maintenance, ordering, and inventory
  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the biological sciences or relevant field
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Professionalism while interacting with research participants and a diverse group of people, personalities, and cultures
Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest in autoimmunity or immunology
  • Clinical experience/exposure to dental or oral medicine field
  • Experience with usage of R Studio
Work Hours

Typically, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, however, may include work outside these hours or overtime due to experimental setups.
