Job Description:
Food Technologist/ Laboratory Technician to aid in ingredient applications and functionality evaluations
Responsibilities:
• Aid in the development of new ingredient technology for sugar reduction and sodium reduction in *** food and beverage products
• Conduct bench top and pilot plant trials to optimize formulation and processes
• Perform functional evaluations of new ingredients and record results
• Perform sensory testing of prototypes and coordinate expert panel sensory tests
• Perform shelf-life and stability evaluations
• Coordinate team evaluations on a regular basis
• Submit prototypes for analytical testing and compile results
• Communicate with suppliers for ingredient requests and information
• Write progress reports
• Maintain and organize laboratory and supplies
• Ensure laboratory safety
Requirements:
• B.S. in Food Science or similar field and 2 min years’ experience
• Ability to provide sensory descriptions of foods and beverages
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good record-keeping and organization
• Ability to lift at least 40 pounds
