The Section of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Chicago draws upon a tradition of innovative clinical practice and scientific research to provide the highest level of care to our patients. We continue to pioneer and develop new programs and techniques.
Our cardiac surgeons have established a renowned heart transplant program, which is the largest in Illinois and second largest in the Midwest. Our program's physicians and surgeons were the first to successfully perform simultaneous heart, liver, and kidney transplants and have extensive experience in multiple organ transplants. We also perform minimally invasive surgical techniques, including DaVinci-assisted coronary artery bypass graft surgeries and complex redo valve surgeries.
Our pediatric cardiac surgeons are at the forefront of surgical procedures, including hybrid surgeries for hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which are minimally invasive and off-pump, allowing infants to survive without immediate massive operations and grow for subsequent procedures.
Our team of scientists is committed to understanding complex heart diseases and developing new treatments, working in a collaborative environment to improve patient health in our community and beyond.
The role involves providing technical support for scientific research projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory policies, and assisting in drafting research presentations.
Vocational training, apprenticeships, or equivalent experience in a related field (typically no four-year degree required).
