Description
The Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Cell Biology at West Virginia University Research Corporation is currently accepting applications for a Research Technician position.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a laboratory technician who will work in Dr. Tracy Liu’s laboratory. The Liu lab studies tumor-immune interactions with a focus on treatment resistance and imaging. A qualified candidate should have strong communication skills, be self-motivated, be well organized, be detail oriented, be able to multitask, have strong time management skills, be able to multi-task, and works well in a collaborative environment. This position requires the candidate to interact with the PI and other lab members daily, maintain the organization and inventory of the lab, receive, process and reconcile laboratory orders, performing genotyping, colony maintenance, assist and perform experiments in various capacities. The candidate should have experience with basic wet lab techniques such as pipetting, preparing reagents, and keeping clear records in lab notebooks; experience in molecular and cell biology (e.g., PCR, cell culture, Western blot, etc.), animal experience and colony management is an asset. Importantly, the candidate must be willing to learn molecular and cell biology, imaging, histology, microscopy, flow cytometry, tissue culture and animal handling. The ability to analyze and interpret results is an asset.
