The Burk Laboratory at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician A to assist with molecular genetic characterization of HPV genomes. This role involves performing technical procedures in a research setting, under occasional supervision, to support essential laboratory tasks.
The Burk Laboratory of the Pediatrics Department is one of the foremost HPV labs in the world. The main focus of the Burk laboratory is to understanding how evolution of human papillomaviruses (HPV) has resulted in the emergence of HPV types that are highly pathogenic and cause multiple cancers in humans (e.g., cervix, head & neck, skin). The studies of theHPV genome aretranslational in nature (i.e., contribute to knowledge about how to use HPV testing to prevent cervix cancer).
The Burk Laboratory is seeking a Research Technician A to assist with aresearch project that involves the molecular genetic characterization of HPV genomes from clinical samples. The studies are involved in characterizing the presence, specific type and methylation state (i.e., CpG methylation) of the viral genome and cervix pre-cancer and cancer.
The person will:
Perform a few, relatively simple, technical procedures;
