Job description

A Research Technician position is available in the Department of Molecular Medicine, College of Medicine, University of South Florida. The work requires a background in Microbiology and Molecular biology, with excellent organization skills and communication skills. Experience with animal models, and/or tick biology is not required but preferred.

Applicants will be expected to:

  1. Conduct experiments independently
  2. Maintain research records effectively
  3. Report to the Principal Investigator to update research progress

The position offers an excellent training opportunity to conduct research in an attractive, dynamic environment with outstanding resources.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of laboratory or research experience. College coursework in a natural or physical science may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Job Responsibilities
  • Organize, coordinate, and participate in scientific or medical research projects under the Principal Investigator's guidance
  • Perform laboratory analysis using experimental protocols
  • Recommend or initiate new or modified procedures based on latest developments or research data
  • Construct, assemble, and operate laboratory apparatus and equipment
  • Analyze research data and assist in preparing reports or publications
  • Provide administrative support, including ordering supplies and maintaining lab equipment and safety compliance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
