A leading university seeks a motivated candidate for a technical role related to the NSF EPSCoR award for functional neuroscience. You will provide technical support in confocal microscopy and biological imaging, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to work with various users. Responsibilities include managing equipment, performing sample preparation, and supporting research efforts.
We seek a motivated candidate to fill a technical position in support of activities related to the NSF EPSCoR Track I award “West Virginia Network for Functional Neuroscience and Transcriptomics (WV- NFNT )”. The successful candidate will provide training and other support activities for confocal microscopy, sample preparation, and for other research activities as required and assigned. The successful candidate must be independently driven to keep abreast of current techniques in biological imaging, and how imaging intersects with other disciplines such as big data -omics science. Furthermore, the candidate must possess good communication skills and be able to work effectively with a variety of users.
Duties include
· Manages day-to-day scheduling, training, and basic maintenance of grant-related instruments, as needed.
· Performs technician-assisted sample preparation, sectioning, and imaging.
· Maintains a data management workflow for imaging files and other data.
· Coordinates with faculty and student users.
· Sits on the steering committee for grant-related instrument.
· Other related duties as assigned or required.
This position is grant funded and the employment is at will.

Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, physics or related field.
Experience
Experience with microscopy, biological imaging, and tissue preparation.
Preferred Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, physics, or related field.
Experience
Experience with or strong working knowledge of confocal microscopy, optics, lasers, or instrument maintenance.
