Job summary

University of California, Berkeley seeks a Junior Specialist or Assistant Specialist to join the Schepartz group and support NSF C-GEM research. The role focuses on designing and executing synthesis of recurring monomers, with emphasis on high-purity products and rigorous data analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or related field.
• Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program also acceptable for basic qualification.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute synthesis of small organic molecules for C-GEM research.
• Purify monomers to >95% where applicable using flash chromatography, HPLC, recrystallization, or distillation.
• Analyze data using NMR/LC-MS and prepare results for publication or grant reporting.
• Maintain clear, organized documentation of protocols, analyses and results.
• Prepare figures and summarize routes and findings for internal presentations.
