JOB SUMMARY

Performs or oversees complex scientific procedures in a clinical or research setting.

JOB DUTIES

• 50% - Development of nanoscale measurement techniques for glass surfaces and interfaces.
• Support laboratory infrastructure through routine alignment, calibration, and maintenance of optical and spectroscopic equipment.
• 20% - Surface and crossectional preparation of glass materials.
• Conduct research in materials and glass science, including processing new materials and performing spectroscopic characteristic aligned with ongoing research directions.
• 15% - Data Analysis and interpretation.
• 15% - Manuscript writing and presentation. Produce scholarly and technical documentation. Prepare manuscripts, presentations, and other academic products based on scientific work.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• A bachelor's degree in a related field and work experience directly related to the assigned research area; or a high school diploma and advanced journey-level work experience in a clinical or research setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• JOB KNOWLEDGE: Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.
• SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises Student workers only
• BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES: No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Expected Salary Range 22.50/hr - 22.50/hr

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
