Job Description - Research Specialist-Gastroenterology (25000852)

Summary:

The Division of Gastroenterology in the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated individual to assist with ongoing research projects involving gastrointestinal motility, gastrointestinal transit and gastroparesis. In this capacity, this person will work closely with the principal investigator on projects which will involve assessing gastrointestinal motility such as gastric emptying scintigraphy, liquid nutrient drink testing, electrogastrography, and pyloric impedance planimetry. The incumbent should be energetic, and willing to work with others on a variety of projects.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Patient recruitment, screening, obtaining informed consent, and enrolling research subjects in clinical trials.
  2. Scheduling study visits.
  3. Coordinating and performing research-related tests.
  4. Data collection, data entry and regulatory submissions (IRB).
  5. Day to day management of research project activities.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist with conducting clinical trials and clinical research studies.
  2. Primary contact for research subjects.
  3. Enroll study participants and manage data collection, data entry, and processing.
  4. Perform pyloric impedance planimetry and similar clinical tests.
  5. Present project updates at clinical research meetings.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a science or healthcare related field and 2 years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  1. Strong knowledge of computer programs, and computer spreadsheets & data analysis.
  2. Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  3. Able to resolve problems/issues.
  4. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  5. Flexible in an ever changing environment.
  6. Proficient in standard computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  7. Conduct oneself in a professional and courteous manner.

This position requires a background check.
