Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities / Duties: (There should be 10+ duties, and duties should be grouped under a section header collectively; the section headers add up to 100%)
Program Manager
- Develop program/project goals and communicate goals and outcomes with a variety of stakeholders
- Participate in tactical and strategic program/project development and planning
- Manage and coordinate project deliverables from conception through completion, including quality assurance, risk assessment, milestone deliverables, forecasting, managing scope, and delivering the scope on-time and on budget
- Participate in program/project budget development processes and regularly reviews budgets to ensure alignment
- Identify project risks, establish solutions and escalate issues with leadership when needed
- Lead and participate in program/project start up and close out functions
- Liaise and coordinate with a variety of program/project stakeholders
- Develop, review, maintain regulatory and other program/project documentation
- Ensure program/project compliance with regulatory requirements
- Develop and maintain a variety of reports and communicate and present data to stakeholders
- Develop and implement community outreach and engagement initiatives
- Assist with and oversee the day to day operations of laboratory science studies and experiments, when needed
- May perform duties and responsibilities of Laboratory Science Professionals when necessary
- Develop protocol-specific systems and documents including process flows, training manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- May perform supervision and management responsibilities for a team of 2 or more professionals. Duties include, but are not limited to, recruitment, supervision, and performance management responsibilities
Manager (Program Manager duties plus below)
- Provide oversight, direction and leadership for all information science operations within unit
- Hire, train, supervise, coach and direct team members
- Monitor and actively direct workload within unit

Why Join Us:
The Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a part-time to full-time Research Services Laboratory Sciences Manager to investigate the mechanism of (add area of research focus). This position is expected to last at least two years, starting immediately. Salary commensurate with experience.
Our lab focuses on mechanisms of T-cell dysfunction in the context of central nervous system tumors, including T-cell exhaustion and sequestration. This strong immunologic foundation serves as the basis for our active development of cell and biologic therapeutics, including chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cells and T-cell and antigen bispecifics (TCABs). We are further currently modeling cutting-edge neurosurgical therapies (“bedside to bench”) alongside colleagues in biomedical engineering and veterinary medicine. Our team is comprised of a unique mix of scientists, clinicians, and students working to improve the care of patients with brain tumors
Neurosurgery at CU Anschutz is a dynamic, rapidly growing educational enterprise, and we are one of the largest Departments of Neurosurgery in the western United States. Currently the department encompasses four teaching institutions: University Hospital, Colorado Children’s Hospital, Colorado VA Medical Center, and Denver Health, with all but the latter now located on the new 225-acre Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. The Anschutz Medical Campus is a truly state-of-the-art center for education, clinical programs, and research and innovation. Our current faculty includes 25 Neurosurgeons, three Neuro-Critical Care Intensivists, ever-growing division of Interventional Neuro-Radiologists, five Neuropsychologists, and eight full-time dedicated research PhDs. The Neurosurgery Department at CU Anschutz is a thriving research-centered department that promotes translational research at an international level. The research faculty in Neurosurgery are focused, welcoming, and inclusive and work with the community to inform about severe neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Minimum Qualifications:
Program Manager
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis
- Four (4) years professional level research experience
Manager
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis
- Five (5) years professional level research experience
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Program Manager
- Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
- Five (5) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory
Manager
- Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
- Prior supervisory or management experience in an experimental or wet laboratory
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Program Manager
- Expert knowledge of laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques
- Expert ability to analyze and solve complex problems
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion
- Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology
- Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information
Manager (Program Manager above plus additional)
- Ability to set goals, motivate team members to achieve results
- Knowledge of supervisory techniques, management principles, and organizational leadership
- An analytical mindset with great problem-solving abilities

Manager: $68,050-$86,560
