Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Research Senior Technician to support investigation of mitochondrial dysfunction in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology. The role involves independently conducting experiments, performing molecular and cellular techniques, and assisting with grant proposals and publications.

You will train junior staff and students, maintain accurate records, manage lab equipment and procurement, and help interpret data for manuscripts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.
• Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.
• The successful candidate should be organized, detail-oriented, able to work independently and collaboratively, and possess excellent communication skills.

Research Senior Technician to assist and support scientific investigation to study of mitochondrial dysfunction in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, live-cell imaging, mitochondrial isolation, Western analysis; tests and evaluates current procedures; performs routine procedures on lab animals; records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepares research progress reports; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
