Job description

Persons in these roles are expected to spend part of their time on-site in our Seattle offices and may occasionally work remotely from their home in the Greater Seattle area. Our base salary range is $167,030 - $260,570, with generous bonus plans to provide a competitive compensation package.

Who You Are:

As a Research Scientist on our team, you'll work on research problems that can improve vision, multimodal models, contribute to open foundation models, and experiment with mobile robots in the real world. You will contribute to projects like our Molmo model (https://molmo.allenai.org/).

We seek applicants interested in computer vision, NLP, machine learning, robotics, agents, and embodied AI. International candidates are welcome. Pay is competitive, and visa sponsorship is available.

We collaborate with other AI2 teams and researchers at the University of Washington, only 1.5 miles away. Researchers excited about collaboration are encouraged to apply.

Research Scientists will work on multiple projects and have opportunities to lead, mentor, publish, and collaborate with external researchers. The application deadline for the first round is March 15th, 2025.

AI2's PRIOR team advances computer vision to create AI systems that see, explore, learn, reason, and interact with the world. Our research areas include embodied AI, language & vision, agents, AI for global challenges, and open-source projects like AllenAct and Ai2-THOR.

We publish in top conferences and journals across AI fields.

Our research topics include Embodied AI, Robotics, LLMs, Web Agents, Foundation models, Visual reasoning, Representation learning, Image/video generation and editing, Efficient deep learning, and more.

What You'll Need:

Qualifications include a PhD in relevant areas, a strong publication record, experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Jax), and contributions to open-source libraries. Bonus points for research in training dynamics, efficiency, large-scale training, multimodal model debugging, reinforcement learning, real-world robot experimentation, and related fields.
